It’s a combination of Chinese-style deep-fried chicken chop served with a tangy gravy and usually a side of roasted potatoes or even fries. They’re perfect for family dinners or even festive gatherings! Here’s how you can recreate this chicken chop recipe for yourself and your loved ones.

Chicken Chop Ingredients:

  • 2 whole chicken legs, deboned
  • 1 ½ tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of white pepper
  • 1 tbsp of vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp of sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 100g of rice flour
  • 100g of 1. 1. 1. - - cornflour
  • Vegetable oil (for shallow frying)

Gravy / Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • 1 white onion, diced
  • 1 tomato, cut into wedges
  • 1 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp of soy sauce
  • 150g of frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 tbsp of cornflour
  • 300ml of water
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of sugar

  • 1 pair of tongs
  • Kitchen towel

Step by Step Instructions to Prepare Chicken Chop:

  • In a bowl, add the chicken chop and season with salt, pepper, vinegar, soy sauce, and sugar.
  • Add in the beaten egg and mix until well combined.
  • On a plate, add rice flour and cornflour, and mix.
  • Transfer the marinated chicken chop to the plate and coat thoroughly on all sides.
  • In a pan over high heat, add enough vegetable oil for shallow frying.
  • Using tongs, take the coated chicken and gently place it in the oil. Fry for 8 minutes on each side, turning it every 2 minutes.
  • Once the chicken chop is golden brown and crispy, drain the oil on a kitchen towel and set aside.
  • Remove the oil from the pan, leaving behind 2 tablespoons worth.
  • Toss in the garlic, onion and tomatoes and fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add oyster sauce, tomato ketchup, soy sauce, frozen vegetables, and fry for 1 minute.
  • In another bowl, combine the cornflour and water.
  • Add it into the pan and season with salt, pepper, and sugar.
  • Cook the gravy and let it reduce and thicken.
  • Ladle the gravy over the fried chicken chop and serve!

Extra Crispy Chicken Chop
