Ingredients
- 204g all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 68g butter, room temperature
- 201g white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 184ml milk, room temperature

- 1 20cm square baking pan
- Parchment or wax paper
- 1 sifter
- 1 hand mixer
- 1 silicone spatula
Directions
- Preheat oven to 175℃. Lightly grease the baking pan. Place parchment paper or lightly sprinkle flour on the bottom of the pan.
- Combine flour, salt, and baking powder with a sifter.
- Beat butter and white sugar until fluffy and light in colour with a hand mixer. Add in eggs slowly, beating well after each addition; stir in vanilla with a silicone spatula.
- Add the mixed dry ingredients and milk in turns to the creamed mixture. Stir well. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake at 175℃ for 30 minutes.
- Set aside to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

- Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to mix the cake batter.
- Sift the dry ingredients for a smooth batter.
- Substitute milk with yoghurt. It will make the cake extra fluffy and moist.
- To avoid burning the top of the cake, cover it halfway while baking with aluminium foil.
