Song Fa Bak Kut Teh started in 1969 as a pushcart located along Johor Road. Its founder, Yeo Eng Song,learned how to cook by working at a zichar stall at the age of 19. He started his own stall at 21, offering a simple menu of pork rib soup and braised pig's trotters that drew a regular crowd.

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh (New Bridge Road) bagged the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Award for 6 years - 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
