Unbelievably salty lotus root soup that had to add 2 TIMES the soup amount to wash down the saltiness. Appalled by the food quality. Claypot rice? NOPE! Bottled Tea? DILUTED! How could this happen???

About Soup Restaurant
Soup Restaurant established their first outlet in Smith Street in 1991. The founders, Mok Yip Peng, Wong Wei Teck, Wong Chi Keong, and Ho Hong Chin, noticed the increasing popularity of Herbal Soups in Hong Kong, with specialised restaurants emerging in the market. Inspired by this trend, they believed that there would be a demand for herbal soups and home-cooked dishes in Singapore, particularly among young professionals with limited access to such food.
In 1994, Mr. Mok, introduced a range of Cantonese-based home-cooked dishes, which was named "Chinatown Heritage Cuisine." These dishes, originating from Mr. Mok's family recipes and Chinatown's heritage, were designed to evoke nostalgia for nutritious home-cooked food. They were well-received, with the "Samsui Ginger Chicken" becoming an instant hit and now being one of the signature dishes.
Besides Samsui Ginger Chicken, other signature dishes include Ah Kon fan shu leaves, double-boiled whole coconut with black chicken soup, hometown fried fish belly, steamed hand chopped minced pork with salted fish, tofu prawn, hometown tofu, Teochew olive rice, double-boiled waisan & Ginseng roots with chicken soup, and double-boiled dried scallop with black chicken soup.
